Sarah is our West Wirral Worker and has been with WYFC now for over a year. Sarah originally from St Albans Hertfordshire, started in youth work in her gap year working for a large youth work organisation do doing media and PR alongside working with her Church helping to run the youth work. From here she gained a passion for young people, to see them reach their full potential and know that they are loved. It was with this passion she then made the move from the south to the north to pursue a qualification in youth work.

Sarah moved to Chester studying for a DipHE in Christian Youth Work for two years and during this time worked out in the field in two different places. It was the second of these placements that brought her to the Wirral, working in Heswall for a Church. After finishing and passing her DipHE and gaining her JNC Sarah decided to stay on at the University of Chester gain her BA HONS in Christian Youth Work. During her final year Sarah studied Youth Work skills alongside Theology modules, but also stayed on the Wirral in employment with the Church where she had previously been on placement. It was during this time that God broke her heart for the young people of Wirral and she knew that God was calling her to live on the Wirral. Sarah since then has got married and moved to live and now work with Wirral YFC! She is now on the advisory panel for the University of Chester Youth Work degree and is a qualified hockey coach!

Zoe has worked with Wirral Youth For Christ for over 2 years and is currently working in North Wirral Secondary Schools. Zoe has lived on the Wirral all her life and spent her years in education at Weatherhead High School where she took her GCSE’s and A Levels. Feeling unsure about what was next, Zoe took a gap year to take time to seek what God had planned for her and she became a full time volunteer at The Foundry, a church in Widnes. It was during this year Zoe discovered her passion and heart for and sharing her faith in Jesus with those she met, on the streets, within the church and in local secondary schools. After her year was finished she felt God call her back to the Wirral and started working full time with Wirral Youth For Christ.

Zoe is particularly keen to see young people value and respect themselves and others as unique, complete people created by God for the purpose of relationship with Himself. Zoe is on a journey discovering what right, God intended relationship looks like, with God and others and wants to help others do the same. Through this desire, Zoe delivers relationship and sex education in schools and runs a 3 month discipleship course, The Romance Academy, to help young people explore a life of respect, value and integrity.

Rob has a passion for taking the good news relevantly to young people and has been developing the team’s skills on how this can be done using the latest technology. Over the last year Rob has been building relationships with the secondary schools in East Wirral and has had some very positive results. Rob has built relationships with schools that Wirral YFC has not had much contact with in the past.

I’ve been in Hoylake for about two (ish) weeks now – I still don’t know all of you and I don’t know how much you know about me either. Well here it goes… Rosie 20 years old I come from St. Ives but that’s the place not by the sea but it’s very flat because it’s in the fens in Cambridgeshire (it floods a lot!!) My Home Church is Huntingdon Methodist Church. I’ve been a Christian for 5/6 years. I’ve been doing youth work for about 18 months – one year in Manchester with the Pais Project and 6 months in Nuneaton near Birmingham in a YFC centre. 3 words to describe myself: Bubbly, Smiles, passionate. I dance, sing, play guitar, take photos and song write but not all the same time. I have Two Brothers Jonathan 22 and Richard 18 and my lil Sister Naomi 15 as well as my mum Sue and dad Mark. I love Music. My favorite bands / artists are; Switchfoot, Superchick, delirious?, Katy Perry, Little Boots, Girls Aloud, Skillet, Athlete, Jimmy Eat world, Jon McLaughlin, Michael Bubble, kings of Leon, Planet Shakers, Hillsong, Coldplay, Wombats, Yfriday and anything really just not rap or really heavy metal music. I love TV too my Favorite shows are ER, Scrubs, Friends, Heroes, Doctor Who, Top Gear, Torchwood, Grey Autonomy, Hustle, waterloo road, CSI, Numbers, Ugly Betty, and One Tree Hill. Favorite films of many are……Sweet Home Alabama, Moulin Rouge, Ps I love you, Walk to Remember, Jason Bourne movies, The Island, Confessions of a shopperholic and that’s just a few. I love reading to I’m reading a book at the moment about the Old Testament convent and Isaiah and Abraham etc. It’s by a guy called Rob bell (from the Nooma dvd’s) and it’s called ‘Jesus wants to save Christians.’

I was brought up going to the church but I didn’t get this God stuff I’m still Trying to tackle it today we will never stop trying to understand it really will we? It’s great cause we can learn from each other in many different ways and I feel it’s a lot about how we live out our faith with those around us and how we reflect God’s character and how we act. Whether that’s when we out after school or at the weekends even more when we are at school. I’ve always asked God how can I reflect Him to my friends who aren’t Christians and to young people who have know idea who He is?? Whether it’s when I don’t swear or if I’m Be respectful even if someone is getting on my nerves. I ask God why is it important that I share my faith with others – what does that do for me? Well imagine you have been given a really cool present or you’ve brought this really great Game or laptop you wanna Go tell your friend so much you wanna show them that your new laptop is a Mac book and it has an amazing camera where you can take very funny pictures of yourself. You would wanna tell everyone!
