No one laughs at God in a hospital

Here are the words of an insightful new song by Regina Spektor called Laughing With, it is the first single from her new album Far, due for release on the 26th June. I think we will be using in assemblies before long.
Laughing With: Regina Spektor
No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one’s laughing at God
When they’re starving or freezing or so very poor…
But God can be funny
At a cocktail party when listening to a good God-themed joke, or
Or when the crazies say He hates us
And they get so red in the head you think they’re ‘bout to choke
God can be funny,
When told he’ll give you money if you just pray the right way
And when presented like a genie who does magic like Houdini
Or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus
God can be so hilarious
Walk for Wirral YFC and help us raise £5,000
Do you fancy a brisk walk with the Wirral YFC team this May?
We are currently looking for as many people as possible to join us on the sponsored Wirral Coastal Walk which is being held on the 23rd May 2010. This annual event run by the Rotary Club of North Wirral gathered 4,500 walkers last year and raised an estimated £330,000 for numerous charities and good causes.
This year we would like to raise somewhere in the region of £5,000 for our work with young people in Wirral and we would like you to help us make it happen. Please do consider walking with us.
As well as having the satisfaction of completing the walk in the knowledge that you have helped WYFC in their mission to take good news relevantly to every young person in Wirral, you will also get:
- A map of the course (your choice of 5,10, 13 or 15 miles)
- An official sponsorship form
- Free refreshment stops along the way
- A Wirral YFC 2010 Coastal Walk team hoodie (or T-shirt if you would prefer)
- A Wirral YFC commemorative mug
- £10 gift voucher
- A certificate/thank you from the Wirral YFC Director, Martin Dickson
Should you wish to take part please do get in touch. We need to have final numbers by the end of April.
